Dear Comrades,

OBSERVE MAY DAY

“The peoples’ enemies are not invincible,
Invincible are the struggling peoples.”

“MAY DAY WILL BE CELEBRATED all over the world and tributes will be paid to the memories of the Chicago martyrs. This heroic struggle for an 8-hour day will be recalled and its subsequent history recapitulated
…….
“May Day is consecrated to the memory of the Chicago workers who were killed in police shootings for daring to demand an 8-hour workday. It is consecrated to the memory of their leaders who were executed by a capitalist court for leading the workers’ struggle against unbridled brutal exploitation. It was later revealed that the leaders were convicted on the basis of the perjured evidence, that the main prosecution witness was bribed. Because of this, those who were sentenced to life terms had to be released before time.
 …….
One of the leaders committed suicide in jail. The others walked to the gallows with erect heads….”

In the given context of our country, recalling the struggles and sacrifices of our ancestors/predecessors across the world for the cause of a just world, honour for labour and an egalitarian society is a must.

These are the days when the fruits of the struggles of the yesteryears are being slowly and slowly taken away; deliberate and calculated attacks on the working class unity by poisoning the psyche of the worker through devious means are underway;

These are the days the worker is made to forget his working class identity, instead search for religious identity;
These are the days when non-issues are presented before us as issues and the real, genuine issues are relegated to the background or totally blacked out with the help of the paid media and propagandists;

These are the days when we fail to respond to the attacks on our lively hood and diverted to say ‘jai-jai kaar’ to frauds;

These are the days even wise-counsel about the impending dangers falls on deaf ears;

These are the days when the mettle of a Trade Union worker is tested, as in the jamboree that is created no sensible talk will be heard or listened to;

These are the days of real challenge for all of us, who are near the truth, who hear the truth, who feel the truth – the horrifying truth – that the savings bank account which our predecessors had given us has become almost empty and we have delayed much to replenish the depleting balance and it is getting too late …any further delay/lethargy to save it through struggles and sacrifices will lead to a total disaster and will be a dishonor to our valiant predecessors and infidelity towards posterity.

Let this May Day be an occasion to recall the struggles of the past, the sacrifices of hundreds and thousands of leaders and workers across the globe for furthering the cause of the toiling masses and to pledge and to commit ourselves in the struggle against oppression of man by man, imperialist aggression anywhere in the world, the surreptitious move by the government of the day to roll back the protection the worker had earned through bitter struggles and to guard against the disruptions that are caused on non worker lines

With greetings,

Yours fraternally
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               sd/-
